South Coast Region - California Marine Life Protection Act Initiative
Marine Life Protection Act Initiative
The Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) was passed into law in 1999 and directs the state to design and manage a network of marine protected areas (MPAs). There are three MPA designations used in the MLPA process; State Marine Reserves, State Marine Parks, and State Marine Conservation Areas.
The Role of Pacific Oceanworks in the MLPA Initiative
Our representative was appointed by the Director of the California Department of Fish and Game to serve on the South Coast Regional Stakeholder Group for the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative.
